    Burgenland XI 2 – Arsenal 10
Carlos Vela and Jack Wilshere grabbed their first goals for Arsenal in a 10-2 hammering of a Burgenland XI at SC Ritzing on Monday night.

Nicklas Bendtner was the dominant figure of the first half, netting four times against a select side that seemed out of their depth as soon as Wilshere had scrambled home the opener in the first minute.

Vela contributed a couple of cool finishes as Arsenal cruised into a 7-0 at the break and then completed his personal treble seven minutes in the second half.

    Portsmouth 1-2 Man Utd
Second-half goals from Chris Eagles and Carlos Tevez gave United a deserved win in what was a decent work-out against Premier League opposition, a side that will become familiar foes in the coming weeks. This is the first of three matches in the space of a month against Harry Redknapp’s men; there’s also the Community Shield at Wembley on 10 August, then the league encounter two weeks later at Fratton Park.

Barça’s first fixture under Guardiola promised there could be big things ahead of us this season. All five of the new signings got their moment, and the team played from start to finish at a frenetic pace, and made it look all too easy as such constant pressure was converted into six goals, scored by Gudjohnsen (2), Messi, Pedrito, Bojan and Touré Yaya.

    Szombathelyi Haladas 1 – Arsenal 1
Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at Szombathelyi Haladas on Tuesday night in the first game of their Austrian Training Camp.

Arsène Wenger’s side started in lively fashion against last season’s Hungarian Division Two champions but were shocked in the 24th minute when Krisztian Kenesei’s shot was adjudged to have crossed the line before Gavin Hoyte cleared.

However they got on level terms three minutes before half time when Theo Walcott’s low drive across the face of goal found the far corner.

Foster, 25, did himself no harm with crucial saves as the Pirates threatened to plunder a shock draw. And afterwards Fergie insisted: “I believe that he will be England’s keeper for years.

Manchester United’s players got the preseason workout they were looking for Saturday in a 1-1 draw with South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs.

United equalized in the 60th when midfielder Chris Eagles headed home a cross from Carlos Tevez. Chiefs’ goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was wrongfooted as the ball took a deflection off captain Jimmy Tau.
