An injury-time goal by Wigan striker Emile Heskey put a massive dent in Chelsea’s hopes of winning the Premier League title as the Latics earned a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Michael Essien had given the Blues the lead in the 55th minute but Heskey’s shock equaliser left their title hopes in tatters.

A handball from William Gallas and a superb free-kick from Owen Hargreaves were enough to ensure Man Utd ran away 2-1 winners against Arsenal at Old Trafford, giving them a six-point cushion at the top of the league. Adebayor scored had given Arsenal the lead with a handball of his own, before Gallas transgressed and Ronaldo converted from the spot. Hargreaves then curled a free-kick over the wall to leave Arsenal nine points adrift.

Steven Gerrard scored against Blackburn to banish the flak surrounding Anfield and their American owner Tom Hicks. Gerrard provided a great cross for Fernando Torres to net his 22nd in the Premier League. Andriy Voronin and Roque Santa Cruz then netted late on to make the score 3-1.
